Privacy policy

refugelab.kz is run by RefugeLab, an independent game studio from Kazakhstan. This page explains what data we get about you, why, and what we do with it. The site has no advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell player or visitor data.
What we collect
If you just browse the site
Nothing beyond the technical server log every host keeps: IP address, time, page address and browser type.
Your account: Steam sign-in
You sign in and register with the official Steam sign-in. You type your Steam password on Steam's own site; we never see it. From Steam we receive:
- your SteamID64, the number of your Steam account;
- public profile data: nickname, avatar and profile link, plus your country, Steam account creation date and profile visibility setting if your profile makes them public.
The site itself stores: your display name (your Steam nickname at first, which you can change), your email only if you add it, your newsletter consent, site language, account role and status, and registration and last sign-in dates.
Linking Discord (optional)
If you link Discord in your settings, we receive only your Discord ID, username, display name and avatar (the "identify" permission). We get no access to your Discord servers, messages or email. We revoke the access token Discord issues right away and never store it. You can't sign in with Discord; it is only linked to your account.
In-game items
If our team grants you an item, we store which item it is, when it was granted, which team member granted it, and an internal note. Only the team can see who granted it and the note; you see your items on your account page.
Contact form
Your name, email, topic and message, plus your IP address and the time you sent it. The message is emailed to us and saved on the server.
Why
- to let you sign in and use your account;
- to grant in-game items, show them to you and pass them to our games;
- Discord: to recognise you on our server and help with your account (the team can look up an account by Discord ID);
- email: to send news, only if you opted in in your settings;
- to reply to messages from the contact form;
- for security: blocking abuse and sorting out problems. Team actions in the admin panel are logged together with the staff member's IP address.
Who can see your data
- Other players: no one. The site has no public profiles; your account and items are visible only to you.
- The RefugeLab team, in the admin panel, only as far as their work requires. For example, a moderator may not see what an administrator sees.
- Our games (such as WheelHunter) receive your item list by SteamID through a protected interface, so they can show the items in the game.
- Steam (Valve) and Discord: when you sign in or link an account, you use their services under their own terms. Your browser loads Steam and Discord avatars directly from their servers. YouTube videos load only after you press play.
We do not sell or share your data with other companies unless the law requires it.
Cookies
The site sets a single functional cookie, rl. It keeps you signed in and protects forms against forged requests. It is set only when you sign in or open the Contacts page, and lasts up to 30 days or until you sign out. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
How long we keep data
- your account, its settings and items: as long as the account exists;
- your Discord link: until you unlink it;
- contact form messages: as long as we need them for the conversation;
- technical server logs: according to the hosting provider's rules.
Managing your data
- Change your name, email, newsletter consent and language in your account settings. You can also unlink Discord there.
- To delete your whole account, including the Steam and Discord links and all items, or to get a copy of your data, email info@refugelab.com with your SteamID (shown on your account page). We will reply within 10 business days. After deletion, only the former account number remains in the team's action log.
- To delete your contact form messages, email the same address.
Changes
If the site starts collecting anything new, we will update this page and the date at the top.
